Cleveland, OH (Sports Network) - Charlie Lee scored 22 points and handed out
seven assists as the Cleveland State Vikings outlasted the Toledo Rockets
78-73 in a non-conference battle at the Wolstein Center.
Cleveland State (6-2) also got 16 points off the bench from Bryn Forbes while
Tim Kamczyc added 15 points and Sebastian Douglas chipped in 10.
Matt Smith paced Toledo (2-5) with 20 points. Richard Wonnell added 16 off the
bench, Nathan Boothe finished with 15 and Rian Pearson tacked on 13. Julius
Brown dished out seven assists but also turned the ball over seven times.
Toledo nailed 52.0 percent of its shots from the floor in the first half and
with Cleveland State lagging behind at 40.0 percent shooting, took a 32-26
lead into the break.
After trailing for the majority of the second half, Cleveland State finally
took a lead, 74-71, on a 3-pointer from Lee with 31 seconds remaining. Douglas
then stole the ball from Brown on the next possession and scored on the
other end to put the game away.
Cleveland State turned 16 turnovers into 22 points and outscored the Rockets
36-15 from 3-point range.
