Final Score: Colorado State 79, Evansville 72

Fort Collins, CO (Sports Network) - Colton Iverson recorded his fourth straight double-double with 16 points and 12 rebounds, and the Colorado State Rams notched a 79-72 win over the Evansville Purple Aces as part of the Mountain West-MVC Challenge at Moby Arena.

Greg Smith scored a team-high 19 points to go along with eight boards to help the Rams (6-0) stay perfect on the season and extend their home winning streak to 17 in a row. Wes Eikmeier and Dorian Green added 16 points apiece for CSU, which is off to its best start since 2005-06.

The Purple Aces (4-3) had their four-game winning streak come to a halt, despite a career-high 26 points from D.J. Balentine. Colt Ryan chipped in with a season-high 20 points, while Egidijus Mockevicius and Ned Cox each scored 10 in a losing effort.

The Rams led from start to finish, as they jumped out to a 44-32 halftime lead after shooting 56.7 percent from the floor and knocking down 5-of-10 3- pointers in the first half.

CSU cooled off in the second stanza while Evansville heated up. Trailing by as many as 18 at one point, the Purple Aces buried four 3-pointers in the final five minutes to cut the deficit to 76-72 with 20 seconds to play. However, Smith answered with a three-point play on the other end to end the threat.

The Rams sank 20-of-26 free throws for the game, as they outscored Evansville by 14 at the charity stripe.
