NCAA Game Summary - Utah at Texas State
(Friday, November 30)
Final Score: Utah 74, Texas State 69
San Marcos, TX (Sports Network) - Jarred DuBois scored 21 points as the Utah
Runnin' Utes managed to hold off the Texas State Bobcats, 74-69, in a non-
conference bout at Strahan Coliseum.
It was the third time in the last four games DuBois has scored 20 or more
points. Jason Washburn had 18 points for Utah (5-2), while Jordan Loveridge
added 17 points and eight rebounds.
For Texas State (3-4), Joel Wright tallied 17 points and 11 rebounds from off
the bench, and Matt Staff also had a double-double with 16 points and 10
boards. Vonn Jones chipped in 16 points on 5-of-8 from three-point range.
The Utes shot 51.9 percent from the field in the opening half to get out to a
33-30 lead at intermission. The Bobcats shot just 34.4 percent in the frame,
but they were able to keep the game close by draining four three-pointers.
The game remained close for much of the second half until Utah ripped off a
13-2 run down the stretch to take a 68-57 lead with 2:19 remaining. Texas
State was able to nail a couple of treys in the final minute to bring its
deficit to single-digits, but there wasn't enough time left to mount a
comeback.
The tilt consisted of 10 ties and seven lead changes. Utah was able to pull
out the victory despite going just 5-of-17 from beyond the arc.
