Fayetteville, AR (Sports Network) - Marshawn Powell posted a double-double
with 28 points and 11 rebounds as theArkansas Razorbacks defeated the
Auburn Tigers, 88-80, in a double overtime SEC matchup at Bud Walton Arena.
BJ Young chipped in 22 points, six rebounds, and five assists for Arkansas
(11-5, 2-1 SEC) . Mardracus Wade scored 12 points off the bench as Arkansas
won it's second straight game.
For the Tigers (8-8, 2-1), Rob Chubb recorded a double-double scoring 12
points and 11 boards. Frankie Sullivan was one rebound shy of a double-double
scoring a team-high 26 points as Auburn had a three-game winning streak
snapped.
Arkansas made 14-of-33 from the floor including three 3-pointers, en route to
a, 34-27 advantage at the half.
Auburn shot 59.3 percent from the floor, 8-of-12 of which came from
long-range, including Allen Payne's 3-pointer with 5 seconds remaining that
forced overtime.
In the first overtime Mardracus Wade hit a foul shot with 35 seconds left to
tied the game at 75-75 and force a second overtime.
Arkansas outscored Auburn, 13-5, in the final overtime. Arkansas shot 44
percent from the floor including 2-of-4 from long-range combined in both
overtimes.
Arkansas force 18 turnovers while committing eight itself on the night.
