Cambridge, MA (Sports Network) - Wesley Saunders scored 17 points to lead the
Harvard Crimson to a 73-64 victory over the Fordham Rams in a non-conference
matchup at Lavietes Pavilion.
For the Crimson (3-3), Jonah Travis posted a double-double with 16 points and
12 rebounds, while Siyani Chambers added 13 points and Agunwa Okolie finished
with 11 points.
Branden Frazier led the Rams (1-6) with 16 points, while Ryan Rhoomes finished
with 11 points and Travion Leonard chipped in with 10 points.
Harvard shot 42.3 percent from the field to open the game, and using a 12-4
advantage at the free-throw line, the Crimson went into halftime with a 36-33
lead. Fordham made 41.9 percent of its field goals in the first half as they
were able to stay close with the home team.
In the second half, the teams did not improve from floor, with the Crimson
shooting just 42.1 percent and the Rams just 37.8 percent. The Crimson again
were able to do their damage from the charity stripe, outscoring the Rams 17-3
on the free-throw line. Fordham was able to cut the Harvard lead just four,
67-63, with under a minute to play, but the Crimson connected on all six of
their free-throw attempts in the final minute to secure the victory.
The Crimson finished the game with a 29-8 scoring advantage from the free-
throw line. Fordham dominated in the paint, outscoring Harvard 42-26.
