GAME NOTES: Having won a season-high three straight games, the Davidson Wildcats take to the road once again to battle the Appalachian State Mountaineers in Southern Conference action on Saturday afternoon.

Davidson comes into this contest as the top team in the Southern Conference with a 7-1 record in league play. Davidson is coming off a 79-74 triumph at Western Carolina on Thursday. Nik Cochran led the way with a career-high 32 points on 10-of-13 shooting from the field. Jake Cohen added 15 points and seven rebounds and Tyler Kalinoski chipped in with 10 points. Cochran, the league's top 3-point shooter, scored 21 of his squad's first 22 points in the second half. Cochran became the first Wildcat since Stephen Curry to net 30 points in a contest.

Last year's Southern Conference Players of the Year, De'Mon Brooks (13.5 points, 6.3 rebounds) and Jake Cohen (13.2 ppg, 5.4 rpg) lead the Wildcats in scoring and rebounding. Additionally, Cochran is second in the country in free-throw percentage making 68 of his 71 tries (.958). Cochran is averaging 10.3 points a game. Cochran has made 84 of his last 88 free throws dating back to last season. The Wildcats lead the conference in free-throw percentage, 3- pointers, and 3-point percentage (.375). The magic number has been 70 for the Wildcats. They are 10-1 this season when scoring 70 points or more.

Appalachian State snapped a two-game skid with a 64-62 overtime win over visiting Georgia Southern on Thursday. Nathan Healy logged a double-double with 17 points and 13 rebounds, while Michael Obacha also turned the trick with 11 points and 10 rebounds. Chris Burgess added 12 points for the home team, while Tab Hamilton chipped in with 10 points.

The Mountaineers have a five-game home winning streak, the team's longest since the 2009-10 campaign when they won six straight at home. Appalachian State has three players averaging double figures, starting with Jay Canty, who comes in at 14.8 points per game. That is slightly ahead of Healy (14.7 ppg), who is averaging a team-best 7.3 rpg. Hamilton (11.1) is the unit's other double-digit scorer. Healy is averaging 17.3 points per game against SoCon opponents.

The Wildcats are 48-12 in their last 60 conference games on the road. Davidson is outscoring its opponents by 13.3 points per game in SoCon play. Expect the Mountaineers to keep this one tight, but Cochran's offense should put his team over the top.

Sports Network Predicted Outcome: Davidson 77, Appalachian State 72
