Cedar Falls, IA (Sports Network) - Jake Koch scored a game-high 16 points as he helped guide the Northern Iowa Panthers to a convincing 72-47 win over the North Dakota Fighting Sioux at the McLeod Center.
Koch made good on 10-of-10 shots at the free-throw line for the Panthers (3-0) and was just two rebounds shy of a double-double. Chip Rank contributed 13 points off the bench and Matt Bohannon chipped in 11 points in the triumph.
North Dakota (1-2) was paced by Aaron Anderson who tallied 12 points, followed by Alonzo Traylor and Lenny Antwi who added nine points apiece in the setback.
The Fighting Sioux struggled shooting the ball in the first half, only managing 4-of-15 from three-point range and 32.3 percent from the floor overall. The Panthers, who scored the first points of the contest and never looked back, were 7-of-18 from beyond the arc and a perfect 9-of-9 at the free-throw line through the first 20 minutes, en route to a 36-25 lead at the break.
UNI made good on 56.5 percent from the field in the second half, while holding the visitors to just seven made field goals and 1-of-7 accuracy on the perimeter as the hosts cruised to the 25-point win.
UNI dominated on the glass, 41-28, as it moved to a perfect 16-0 in the month of November at the McLeod center.
