San Jose, CA (Sports Network) - Deremy Geiger scored 16 points as he helped guide Idaho to a 70-64 win over San Jose State in Western Athletic Conference play at The Event Center.
Also scoring in double figures for the Vandals (18-12, 9-5 WAC) were Connor Hill and Landon Tatum with 12 and 10 points, respectively, as the team closed out the regular season with seven wins in the last eight tries.
The Spartans (9-21, 1-13) were paced by James Kinney who tallied a game-high 19 points, hitting 5-of-9 shots behind the three-point line. Keith Shamburger responded with 14 points and Wil Carter yet another double-double with 12 points and a game-high 12 rebounds, but still the hosts bowed for the fourth straight game.
Despite shooting only 39.3 percent from the field and failing to make a single trip to the free-throw line in the first half, the Spartans trailed by just one point at the break, 26-25.
In the second half the Vandals put some distance between themselves and the hosts by converting 64.7 percent from the field, 5-of-7 beyond the arc and 17- of-26 at the charity stripe, en route to the six-point win.
SJSU was outscored at the free-throw line, 18-7.
