Baltimore, MD (Sports Network) - Aric Brooks scored 18 points to lead the Morgan State Bears past the Liberty Flames, 81-69, in a BracketBuster matchup at Hill Field House.
Dewayne Jackson and Justin Black each added 15 points off the bench for Morgan State (6-18) which snapped a six game losing streak.
Jesse Sanders led Liberty (12-17) with 21 points, Antwan Burrus added 13, John Caleb Sanders netted 12 and Tavares Speaks chipped in 10. The Flames had a three game winning streak put to an end in the loss.
Morgan State shot an impressive 62.5 percent from the floor including 6-of-8 from three point range to take a commanding 44-26 lead into the locker room. Liberty had only eight field goals in the first twenty minutes.
The Flames improved to 51.7 percent shooting including a perfect 4-of-4 from beyond the arc but the Bears were able to keep a comfortable lead by connecting on 48.0 percent of its shots to close out the game.
Morgan State blocked seven shots and collected nine steals in the win while also outrebounding Liberty 29-26.
