Final Score: Louisiana 73, Houston Baptist 64
Lafayette, LA (Sports Network) - Josh Brown scored a game-high 17 points as he helped lead the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns to a 73-64 win over the Huskies of Houston Baptist as part of the Beryl Shipley Classic at the Cajundome.
Brown, who shot 8-of-14 from the floor, accounted for nine rebounds and three steals to lead his team in both of those departments as well. Kadeem Coleby contributed 16 points and three blocked shots for the Ragin' Cajuns (2-2).
The Huskies (1-2) were paced by Tyler Russell who tallied 15 points off the bench, while Ronald March chipped in 12 points and pulled down eight boards on the night.
Houston Baptist made a total of just 10 field goals in the first half, allowing the hosts to move out to a 37-28 advantage at the break. Louisiana held the halftime lead despite shooting only 1-of-5 behind the three-point line.
In the second half the Huskies sank to just eight made field goals, yet the team's 18-of-21 shooting at the free-throw line certainly made things interesting.
Louisiana was guilty of 17 turnovers, but beating the Huskies on the glass (43-37) helped to combat that aspect of the game.
