Hamden, CT (Sports Network) - Zach Filzen scored 17 points with five rebounds and Mitchell Watt added 16 points and six rebounds, as Buffalo edged Quinnipiac, 75-68, in a back-and-forth battle as part of the CollegeInsider.com Tournament.
Dave Barnett chipped in with 15 points and seven rebounds for the Bulls (19-13), who moved on behind a 51.7 percent shooting effort in the second half.
James Johnson led Quinnipiac with 17 points and Deontay Twyman chipped in with 14 points, 10 assists and eight rebounds. Justin Rutty compiled 13 points and seven rebounds for the Bobcats, who struggled from the floor and committed 15 costly turnovers.
The Bulls owned the paint, holding a 32-20 scoring advantage and added 19 points off of turnovers in the victory. Buffalo took its first double-digit lead at 50-38 on Filzen's three-pointer with just over 13 minutes to play.
The Bobcats got back within five points on multiple occasions, but couldn't get any closer in defeat.
