Florida dominates North Carolina A&T
Gainesville, FL (Sports Network) - Chandler Parsons and Kenny Boynton each finished with 16 points as ninth-ranked Florida easily handled North Carolina A&T, 105-55, at the O'Connell Center.
Casey Prather supplied 12 points in a reserve role and four others finished with 11 points for the Gators (2-1), who rebounded from Tuesday's 93-75 loss to Ohio State.
Nic Simpson finished with 11 points and Thomas Coleman added eight points and 10 rebounds for the Aggies (1-3), who fell to Ohio State and Morehead State to open the season but topped North Carolina Wesleyan on Tuesday.
The Gators controlled the tempo from the opening tip, taking an 18-6 lead just under 6 1/2 minutes in. Erving Walker scored all 11 of his points in the first half, while Florida converted 14 Aggie turnovers into 18 points before taking a 53-28 lead at the intermission.
A Boynton three with 14:06 left put Florida up by a 69-36 margin, and about seven minutes later Prather added a deep three to push the lead to 40.
The Gators outscored the Aggies 52-27, hitting 6-of-10 from long distance, in the second half to seal the easy victory.
Walker, Erik Murphy, Patric Young and Scottie Wilbekin were the four Florida players with 11 points. Will Yeguete added 15 rebounds, seven points and four assists...Next up for Florida is Morehead State on Sunday...The Aggies face UNC-Wilmington on Tuesday...Florida held a 43-30 rebounding margin and totaled 16 steals.
