NCAA Game Summary - Southern at Gonzaga

Spokane, WA (Sports Network) - Senior guard Steven Gray made 5-of-8 three- pointers en route to 25 points, as the 12th-ranked Gonzaga Bulldogs annihilated the Southern University Jaguars, 117-72, at the McCarthey Athletic Center.
Gray also dished out nine assists and pulled down seven rebounds for the Bulldogs (1-0), who last season captured their 10th straight regular-season West Coast Conference title last season with a 27-7 record.
Sam Dower ended with 19 points and six boards off the bench for Gonzaga, which got 12 points apiece from Elias Harris and Mathis Moenninghoff.
"It was a good start to the season. I thought we shot the ball extremely well," Gonzaga head coach Mark Few said. "Obviously, we rebounded the ball great and we were able to get a lot of guys in, get some good experience especially with the younger guys. We have a lot to improve on, but a good first game."
Madut Bol had 12 points off the bench to pace the Jaguars (0-1), who went 5-25 last season. Julius Ingram, Jameel Grace, and Patrick Coleman each tallied nine points.
The Jaguars were able to hold strong in the opening moments of the game. Blake Sanford's trey gave Southern University an 18-16 edge with over 13 minutes to play until halftime.
Gonzaga took control for good with six straight points. Kelly Olynyk's layup put the Bulldogs in front by four, 22-18, with 10 minutes remaining.
Grace's three-pointer cut the deficit to 25-23, but Gonzaga closed out the half on a 31-7 run. Gray had nine points during the burst that David Stockton capped with a trey for a 56-30 margin at the break.
The Bulldogs cruised to victory in the second half.
Gonzaga shot 54.2 percent from the field, while the Jaguars made 41.4 percent of their shots...The Bulldogs outrebounded the Jaguars, 57-16.
