College Station, TX (Sports Network) - Khris Middleton poured in 17 points and grabbed seven rebounds, as the 19th-ranked Texas A&M Aggies used a strong second half to defeat the Prairie View A&M Panthers, 84-59.
Donald Sloan added 11 points and four rebounds for the Aggies (6-1), who were coming off a 66-65 win over Minnesota on Sunday. Naji Hibbert also tallied 11 points and four rebounds for Texas A&M, which shot 50.9 percent from the field, including 12-of-31 (38.7 percent) from three-point range.
Michael Griffin chipped in 16 points for the Panthers (3-3), who were coming off a 101-38 rout of Champion Baptist on Saturday. Dorian McDaniel ended with 11 points and seven rebounds for Prairie View A&M, which shot 37.1 percent from the field.
After each team exchanged three-pointers to start the second half, the Aggies went on an 14-4 run to take control. Hibbert made a shot from beyond the arc to end the burst, giving Texas A&M a 52-32 lead with over 14 minutes to play.
The Aggies put the game away moments later with a 13-2 flurry. Middleton drilled a trey and recorded a three-point play before Hibbert made a three- pointer for a 65-38 lead with 9:42 to go.
Prairie View A&M never got closer than 20 the rest of the way.
Ahead 8-6 early, Griffin used a personal 7-0 spurt to give the Panthers a 15-6 lead just four minutes into the contest.
Texas A&M used an 8-1 flurry later in the half to cut the deficit to one. Derrick Roland's layup made it 18-17 with over 7 1/2 minutes left until intermission.
Down 21-17 moments later, the Aggies went on an 18-3 run. Middleton had a pair of three-pointers during the burst, which David Loubeau capped with a slam for a 35-24 margin. Brandon Webb's foul shot cut the gap to 10 at the break.
