GAME NOTES: Winless in six true road games, the Hofstra Pride head to Trask Coliseum in North Carolina tonight in order to match up against the Seahawks of UNC-Wilmington in Colonial Athletic Association action.

Winners of just five games overall to this point in the campaign, the Pride are seeking back-to-back victories for the first time this season. The team managed to snap a three-game slide last Saturday with a 75-71 triumph over the College of Charleston at home.

Meanwhile, the Seahawks are the only team in the CAA still without a league victory, dropping all three such endeavors thus far. Since winning consecutive games against East Carolina and Campbell back in early December, UNCW has been saddled with a seven-game slide. Over the weekend, the program suffered a 60-53 loss at Towson.

In terms of the all-time series, the Seahawks are ahead by a slim 14-13 margin dating back to the very first encounter just over a decade ago in 2002. The teams have alternated victories over the last five meetings, the latest decision going to Hofstra in February of last year, 65-56.

At home in the Mack Sports Complex, Hofstra outscored the Cougars by a 32-14 margin at the free-throw line, just enough to earn the hosts a four-point victory. Stephen Nwaukoni registered a double-double with 13 points and a game-high 15 rebounds as all five starters scored in double figures for Hofstra. Zeke Upshaw scored a team-best 22 points, Jordan Allen and Jamall Robinson pitched in with 12 points apiece and Dion Nesmith 10.

Focusing solely on road games this season, Upshaw is averaging a hefty 22.2 ppg, shooting just 39.6 percent from the field. Nesmith is responsible for another 11.5 ppg and 26 assists in those six decisions, the rest of the unit combining for only 35 dishes. The squad has connected on only 38.9 percent from the floor and 30.8 percent behind the 3-point line, while being outscored in those road tests by an average of 12.7 ppg.

Chris Dixon scored a season-high 17 points for the Seahawks during their visit to Maryland last weekend, but it wasn't enough as UNCW was left with the seven-point loss at SECU Arena. Cedrick Williams was credited with 15 points and seven rebounds, followed by Addison Spruill with 11 points and nine boards, but while the former managed to hit on 5-of-6 from the field, the latter was just 4-of-13 from the floor.

Only once in the last five games has UNCW shot better than 40 percent from the field, and still the team lost that outing to James Madison (60-55) a couple weeks back. The squad is now down to only 64.8 ppg on the season overall, but during this current slide that number drops to just 58.7 ppg as the Seahawks shoot a dismal 23.4 percent from 3-point range. Williams and Dixon are tied for the scoring lead in conference play with 11.7 ppg.

Neither one of these teams has played all that well this season, but if the Seahawks hope to break into the win column in conference play this might be their best chance at making that happen.

Sports Network Predicted Outcome: UNC-Wilmington 63, Hofstra 59
