GAME NOTES: On Thursday night, the Southeast Missouri State Redhawks will tangle with the SIU Edwardsville Cougars in an Ohio Valley Conference clash at the Show Me Center.

The Cougars have picked up wins in each of their last two games, although both took place at home. SIUE is still winless on the road (0-8), while going 3-3 to begin conference play. The Cougars will visit Tennessee-Martin before their next home game.

As for the Redhawks, they have won two of their last three games to improve to 10-9 overall, although they are still just 2-4 against the rest of the OVC. At the Show Me Center, where it will be on Saturday against Eastern Illinois as well, SEMO has collected victories in four of six chances.

These teams split the season series last year, with the home team coming out on top in each bout. SEMO has won five of the last six overall meetings and leads the all-time series, 14-5.

SIUE took down Murray State in a 67-60 final the last time out. The Cougars limited the Racers to just 39.3 percent shooting, while knocking down an even 50 percent from the floor themselves. Rozell Nunn dropped in 20 points to lead three players in double figures for the victors.

The defensive performance from the Cougars was a welcome sign for the team, which is allowing 76.2 ppg and 50.4 percent shooting on average this season. On the other side they are netting just over 70 ppg, spreading the wealth across the entire roster, rather than relying on a single scorer. Donivine Stewart (11.4 ppg) is the team leader, but he is one of eight players netting at least 6.8 ppg. Stewart tallied 11 points on 4-of-8 shooting against Murray State, and also handed out six assists. Christian Salecich (6.8 ppg) logged 13 points off the bench in the win.

SEMO earned itself an 83-74 win at Tennessee Tech when it was last in action. The Redhawks knocked down 49.1 percent of their shots from the floor and 21- of-24 at the free-throw line to make up for 22 turnovers. Tyler Stone led five players in double figures by scoring 23 points to go with 16 rebounds.

Stone is one half of the OVC's most prolific scoring duo. He is averaging 18.2 ppg, as well as 9.4 rpg, ranking fourth and fifth in each category, respectively. Stone's partner in crime is Jarekious Bradley (21.5 ppg, 7.3 rpg), who is second in the OVC in scoring. Bradley had a bit of an off night against Tennessee Tech, finishing with only 12 points on 2-of-6 from the field. The roster has no other double figure scorers, although Antonius Cleveland (9.2 ppg) connects on 50.4 percent from the floor. Lucas Nutt (7.2 ppg, 5.5 apg) doesn't score much, but he is third in the league in assists.

Stone and Bradley are a difficult tandem to shut down. SIUE has not been a proven defensive force, so a step back from its efforts against Murray State should be expected, especially on the road.

Sports Network Predicted Outcome: SE Missouri State 80, SIU Edwardsville 73
