GAME NOTES: The UC Davis Aggies will try and put an end to a three-game losing streak when they travel to face the Hawaii Rainbow Warriors in a Big West Conference clash at the Stan Sheriff Center.

UC Davis has lost three in a row and four of its last five games played. The Aggies were defeated by Long Beach State on Thursday night, 79-57, dropping them to 3-8 in the conference standings.

Hawaii had won three in a row before a Thursday night overtime loss to UC Irvine, 60-56, ended the streak. Still, the Rainbow Warriors are 7-5 in the conference standings, but fell even farther behind UC Irvine with the loss several nights ago.

Hawaii holds a slim lead in the short all-time series between the two programs, 3-2. The Warriors handled the Aggies earlier this season, 90-73, at UC Davis back on Jan. 23.

Long Beach State had UC Davis' number the entire game on Thursday night, as the 49ers jumped out to a 10-point lead at the half and never looked back. Corey Hawkins was the only UC Davis player to score in double figures in the contest, netting 19 points on 7-of-9 shooting. The Aggies connected on just 37 percent of their field goal tries in the contest, including 3-of-22 from 3- point distance. Ryan Sypkens hit 2-of-7 from long range, which put him over 300 total 3-pointers in his collegiate career.

Hawkins leads the team in scoring this season with an 18.5 ppg average on 46.1 percent shooting from the field. His 36 steals are a team high, and 73 assists are second behind Darius Graham's 83 total helpers. Sypkens is averaging 11.7 ppg, connecting on 41.8 percent of his 3-point attempts this season. Georgi Funtarov is the team's active leading rebounder with 4.7 rpg.

Hawaii had an opportunity to move a game closer to UC Irvine for the conference lead with the head-to-head matchup Thursday night, but the Rainbow Warriors faltered in overtime against the Anteaters. Christian Standhardinger paced the team with 12 points in the loss, while Isaac Fotu added a double- double with 11 points and 10 rebounds. Garrett Nevels chipped in with 10 points in the defeat.

Standhardinger and Fotu are the top two scorers this season for a Rainbow Warriors squad fighting to stay alive in conference play. Standhardinger leads the team with a 17.3 ppg average, grabbing a team-high 8 rpg as well with 36 steals and 21 blocked shots. Fotu chips in with 15.6 ppg, and Nevels checks in at third in scoring with 14 ppg. Keith Shamburger leads Hawaii in total assists this year with 138 through 26 games played.

Hawaii may have seen its winning streak come to an end, but against an underachieving team like UC Davis at home, the Rainbow Warriors shouldn't have much trouble getting back on track.

Sports Network Predicted Outcome: Hawaii 76, UC Davis 64
