Fresno, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Led by 22 points from Cameron Bairstow, the New Mexico Lobos downed the Fresno State Bulldogs, 89-78, in a Mountain West Conference tilt at the Save Mart Center.

For the Lobos (13-4, 4-1 MWC), Cullen Neal finished with 17 points, Kendall Williams added 13 points, Alex Kirk scored 12 and Cleveland Thomas chipped in with 10.

Tyler Johnson led the Bulldogs (8-11, 1-5) with 16 points, while Cezar Guerrero and Marvelle Harris each scored 15, and Paul Watson ended up with 12 points.

Fresno State shot well from beyond the arc to start the game, hitting on 5- of-11 but shot just 40 percent overall in the first. New Mexico made 43.3 percent of its field goal tries but only 3-of-14 from 3-point range in the opening period. The Bulldogs led by three points with under three minutes to play in the first, but the Lobos scored the final six points of the half and went into halftime with a 32-27 lead.

New Mexico discovered its shooting touch after the break, connecting on 68.4 percent of its shots from the floor, including 5-of-8 from beyond the arc. Fresno State struggled in the second, shooting just 34.3 percent and making only three of its 14 3-point attempts. Holding just a four-point advantage, 36-32, the Lobos used an 11-4 run early in the half to build a double-digit lead and the Bulldogs would never challenge again.

New Mexico had the edge in points in the paint, 20-16. The game was not the cleanest one played, as there were 52 personal fouls called - four players fouled out and teams combined to shoot 55-of-74 from the free-throw line.
