Oxford, MS (SportsNetwork.com) - Behind a career-high 28 points from Jarvis Summers, the Ole Miss Rebels took care of business against the Troy Trojans in the season opener at the Tad Smith Coliseum with a 69-54 triumph.

Summers shot 10-of-19 from the floor for Ole Miss (1-0), including 5-of-10 from beyond the arc. Derrick Millinghaus was much less efficient with his field goal attempts (5-of-15), but he still finished with 13 points, while Aaron Jones ripped down a career-high 13 rebounds.

For Troy (0-1), Tevin Calhoun and Kevin Thomas each poured in 11 points.

Ole Miss shot just 37.2 percent from the field in the first half, but it was able to hold Troy to only 31.8 percent shooting, as it took a 39-26 lead at the half.

The Rebels continued to struggle shooting the ball after intermission, regressing to just 31 percent from the floor over the final 20 minutes, but they were still able to extend their lead to as many as 19 points and never trailed in the second half.

Both teams showed plenty of rust from the foul line. Ole Miss shot just 13- of-23 from the stripe, while Troy was 16-of-25.

The Rebels outrebounded the Trojans on the night, 53-38, and earned extra possessions with 26 offensive boards.
