(Monday, November 19) Final Score: Illinois-Chicago 86, Iona 81 St. Thomas, VI (Sports Network) - Hayden Humes scored 22 points to lead the Illinois-Chicago Flames to an 86-61 victory over the Iona Gaels in the fifth- place game in the Paradise Jam at the Virgin Islands Sports and Fitness Center. Gary Talton scored 17 points, Daniel Barnes had 16 and Josh Crittle tallied 13 for Illinois-Chicago (3-1). Humes and Barnes each tied for a team-high with eight rebounds while Talton dished out seven assists. Lamont Jones matched Humes with 22 points of his own while Sean Armand had 20 points for Iona (2-2). Tre Bowman finished with 18 points and Taaj Ridley brought down 10 rebounds and came a point shy of a double-double. The Flames trailed 38-33 at halftime after shooting 38.5 percent from the floor in the first half. Iona meanwhile connected on 43.8 percent of its shots in the first 20 minutes. Illinois-Chicago stormed back from a 12-point lead with just under seven minutes remaining thanks to a 12-0 run that tied the game 70-70. From there the Flames outscored the Gaels 16-11 while hitting on 9-of-9 free throws in the final 39 seconds.
