Gonzaga handles Colorado State

Spokane, WA (SportsNetwork.com) - Gary Bell Jr. netted 24 points on 8-of-13 from 3-point range as 15th-ranked Gonzaga routed Colorado State, 93-61, as part of the College Hoops Tip-Off Marathon from McCarthey Athletic Center.

Gonzaga (2-0), which had to replace a lot of production from last year's 32-3 team, got a boost from Providence transfer Gerard Coleman, who shot 7-of-10 for 16 points off the bench.

Przemek Karnowski and Sam Dower, tasked with replacing current NBA players Kelly Olynyk and Elias Harris in the middle, combined to shoot 6-of-6 from the floor. Both players scored eight points.

Kevin Pangos battled foul trouble but still managed to score 13 points for the Bulldogs, who have won 14 straight regular season games dating back to last season.

Jon Octeus was the lone CSU (1-1) player in double figures with a career-high 27 points. The Rams had to replace all five starters from last year's squad which reached the third round of the NCAA Tournament before falling to eventual champion Louisville.

Gonzaga jumped out to a 9-4 lead early on behind a pair of 3-pointers from Bell and one from Pangos.

Coleman provided a spark for the Bulldogs when he checked in and scored four in a row midway through the period. Bell and Stockton followed with 3- pointers before Octeus' dunk halted the 10-0 surge.

Coleman finished the half on a personal 7-0 run with a three-point play then consecutive transition layups in the final minute to help the Zags push the lead to 47-26 at halftime.

The home team stayed hot out of the locker rooms with a 16-0 push before the first media timeout. Bell hit two quick triples to open the half, Parnowski scored four straight and Bell and Pangos knocked down outside shots before Octeus split a pair at the line out of the first timeout.
