Delray Beach, FL (Sports Network) - Seventh-seeded Kevin Anderson bested qualifier Marinko Matosevic in the final of the Delray Beach International Tennis Championships on Sunday.
The 25-year-old Anderson, of South Africa, won his second career ATP title in 6-4, 7-6 (7-2) fashion. He fired eight aces in the one hour, 57 minute bout on the hardcourts at Delray Beach Stadium and Tennis Center.
Anderson's sole previous championship came last season in his hometown of Johannesburg.
Matosevic, 26, unseeded and playing his first ever ATP-level final, gave up five double faults and offered Anderson 15 break chances, though the Australian was able to save 12 of them.
He was the first qualifier to reach the final here since Evgeny Korolev won the tournament in 2009.
Anderson improved to 2-0 in the all-time series against Matosevic, and collected $75,780 for his Delray Beach title.
