Pellegrini to leave Malaga at season's end

Malaga, Spain (Sports Network) - Malaga manager Manuel Pellegrini confirmed on Wednesday he will leave the club at the conclusion of the La Liga season.

The Chilean head coach has been heavily rumored to be in line to replace Roberto Mancini at Manchester City and now he will no longer be in charge of the Spanish side next season.

"My coaching staff and I are separating from Malaga, but our union with this city is eternal. I'm going for sporting reasons," Pellegrini told Spanish newspaper website Marca.com.

Pellegrini had been linked with Manchester City since the club fired Mancini on May 13, but he has since denied that a deal has not been completed to manage the Citizens next term.

"I deny here and now being the new coach of Manchester City. I haven't signed any agreement with anybody," Pellegrini said following Malaga's scoreless draw with Sevilla on May 12.

"I hope in the coming weeks that things will become a little clearer about what is going to be the future here at this club."
