Motherwell captain Craigan announces retirement
Motherwell, Scotland (Sports Network) - Motherwell captain Stephen Craigan will play his final game for the club on Sunday against Dundee United as the Northern Ireland international announced his retirement on Wednesday.
The 35-year-old has turned down a new contract to remain with the club and will instead work with the media following Sunday's match.
"When I joined the club in 1994 I had no idea that I would spend the majority of my adult life and footballing career at Fir Park," Craigan told the club's official website.
"My aim was to play football professionally and today I can say I achieved my goal and it's been a wonderfully satisfying journey.
"I take a lot of pride that I've represented the club 378 times and in wearing the claret and amber colors."
Craigan is in the midst of his second spell with Motherwell after spending time with Partick Thistle earlier in his career, and he has made 27 appearances for the club this season while helping the Steelmen secure third place.
During his international career, Craigan represented Northern Ireland 54 times.
