Rudnevs leads Hamburg past Stuttgart
Stuttgart, Germany (Sports Network) - Artjoms Rudnevs made the difference with his goal in the 50th minute as Hamburg secured a 1-0 away victory against Stuttgart on Sunday.
Hamburg climbs to sixth place with the win, while Stuttgart lost for the third time in all competitions to fall to 14th place.
It took until the 50th minute for the game to come to life as Dennis Diekmeier's right-wing cross picked out Rudnevs, who sent a strong volley sailing past goalkeeper Sven Ulreich and into the net.
Stuttgart's best chance arrived with 20 minutes to play when Shinji Okazaki's cross was turned on target by Vedad Ibisevic, only for goalkeeper Rene Adler to handle the header.
Hannover 0, Eintracht 0
Hannover, Germany - Eintracht failed to reclaim fourth place on Sunday after being held to a 0-0 draw at Hannover.
Eintracht has now gone five games without a goal, while Hannover's five-game winning streak at home was snapped.
The second half saw all of the meaningful chances, with the first real opportunity for either side coming from Hannover's Mame Biram Diouf, who forced goalkeeper Kevin Trapp to tip the ball over the crossbar.
Hannover came close again a few minutes later when Pirmin Schwegler needed to clear a shot from Didier Ya Konan off his own goal line, while Eintracht's best work was done by Alex Meier, who had a goal called back for offside while his shot from just inside the area sailed narrowly over the crossbar.
