Final Score: New York 2, Houston 2

Houston, TX (SportsNetwork.com) - Omar Cummings scored a dramatic equalizer in stoppage time on Sunday as the Houston Dynamo rallied from a two-goal deficit to earn a 2-2 draw with Red Bull New York in the first leg of their Eastern Conference semifinal tie at BBVA Compass Stadium.

New York dominated Houston in three regular season meetings, winning all three games and outscoring the Dynamo by a 9-1 margin. It looked as if that same script was going to play out again on Sunday as RBNY opened the scoring in the 22nd minute.

Thierry Henry whipped a cross into the penalty area where Tim Cahill outmuscled his defender and nodded it past Houston goalkeeper Tally Hall.

Ten minutes later it was 2-0 for New York when Eric Alexander ran onto a through ball from Cahill on the right side of the penalty area. He cut inside and beat Hall with a deceptive shot to the near post for the two-goal margin.

But the second half belonged to the Dynamo, who got back into the match in the 51st minute when an errant clearance from New York defender David Carney fell to the foot of Ricardo Clark, who buried it.

Things got even better for the hosts in the 65th minute when Red Bulls defender Jamison Olave was show a straight red card for a tackle on Cummings, reducing the visitors to 10 men.

Houston sent numbers forward in the final minutes and got their reward in the dying moments when Brad Davis whipped a corner kick into the penalty area. Bobby Boswell sent his header toward the near post and Cummings was there to tap it in for his first goal all season, setting up a thrilling second leg at Red Bull Arena next week.
