Cornish nabs second straight CFL weekly award

Toronto, ON (SportsNetwork.com) - Calgary Stampeders running back Jon Cornish was named the Canadian Player of the Week for the Week 16 of the CFL season.

Cornish ran for 130 yards on 15 carries and scored a touchdown in Calgary's 40-26 win over the BC Lions. The CFL's rushing leader has won this award five times this season.

Hamilton running back C.J. Gable was named the Offensive Player of the Week after leading the Tiger-Cats to a tight win over Toronto. Gable rushed for 118 yards and a touchdown on 17 carries.

Edmonton linebacker Rennie Curran registered a career-high 11 tackles and picked off his first career pass in the Eskimos' narrow 14-9 loss to Saskatchewan to earn Defensive Player of the Week honors.

Rob Maver took the Special Teams Player of the Week after punting five times for 245 yards, including a 57-yarder, in Calgary's triumph over BC.
