Carson, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Seattle Sounders FC claimed a 2-1 win over
Chivas USA at the StubHub Center on Saturday after Obafemi Martins scored in
the 81st minute to lift the Sounders to their second straight win.
Chivas netted the opening goal five minutes into the contest through a penalty
kick from Erick Torres, but Lamar Neagle leveled the match in the 24th before
Martins notched the winner nine minutes from time after Chivas was reduced to
10 men in the 73rd because of a straight red card to Marco Delgado.
The early goal came after Leandro Barrera was brought down inside the penalty
area by Seattle's Osvaldo Alonso, allowing Torres to score his sixth goal of
the season by beating goalkeeper Stefan Frei from the spot.
Seattle took a little while to get going, and the visitors benefited from a
mistake by Chivas goalkeeper Dan Kennedy to level the match as he spilled a
free kick that allowed Neagle to score on the rebound.
Martins almost put Seattle in front in the 57th with a shot that went narrowly
wide following a good build up.
But the hosts found themselves a man down for the final 16 minutes of the
contest after a poor challenge from Delgado on Gonzalo Pineda earned him an

played a neat one-two on the edge of the area that saw Martins take the return
pass and finish off the move with a nice chip over Kennedy, extending the
winless streak of Chivas to six games.
