Final Score: Real Salt Lake 2, Los Angeles 0 (ET)

Sandy, UT (SportsNetwork.com) - Chris Schuler's goal in the 102nd minute propelled Real Salt Lake to a 2-0 second-leg win over the Los Angeles Galaxy at Rio Tinto Stadium on Thursday, ending the Galaxy's bid for a third straight MLS Cup.

Los Angeles entered the second leg of the Western Conference semifinal with a 1-0 lead, but Sebastian Velasquez put RSL in front 35 minutes into the second leg.

The match went into extra time with the aggregate score knotted at 1-1, and Schuler made himself a hero by sliding in to stab home a free kick from Javier Morales in the 102nd minute, giving RSL a 2-1 aggregate victory.

Salt Lake will now face either Portland or Seattle in the Western Conference final, with the first leg to take place on Sunday.

From the start Los Angeles sat back and looked to counter, but Velasquez punished the visitors in the 35th minute when he got on the other end of a cross from Chris Wingert to head home the opening goal from seven yards.

The home side was on top again after the break and Alvaro Saborio was unlucky on two occasions not to add another goal as he headed the ball off the crossbar from a few yards in the 74th before striking the left post with a low shot from the edge of the penalty area.

Salt Lake then had a goal ruled out for a foul in the 84th minute as they continued to press for a winner.

Schuler finally found the net for RSL in the 102nd minute to put his team ahead, but Saborio needed to come off with 10 minutes to play because of an injury, leaving Salt Lake with 10 men because the team had already used all three substitutions.

But goalkeeper Nick Rimando made sure his team stayed in front when he kept out a tricky long-range effort from Juninho before he watched a header from Sean Franklin go wide just before the final whistle.
