Final Score: Columbus 1, Vancouver 0

Vancouver, BC (Sports Network) - Jeff Cunningham joined Jaime Moreno at the top of Major League Soccer's all-time scoring list on Wednesday as his goal in the 90th minute helped the Columbus Crew to a 1-0 win over Vancouver Whitecaps FC.

Cunningham entered the season one goal shy of joining Moreno, but after going 11 games without a tally, he came through in the final minutes on Wednesday with his 133rd career goal to give Columbus three points.

Vancouver had been reduced to 10 men in the 77th minute when Shea Salinas made a terrible challenge on the Crew's Josh Gardner to earn a straight red card.

And it was Gardner who picked himself up and assisted on the historic goal, chipping a ball to the front of the net that Cunningham turned past goalkeeper Joe Cannon with his head.

The result gives Columbus three wins from its last five games, while Vancouver will feel very unlucky to suffer its third successive defeat.

Vancouver's Camilo was the most dangerous player on the field in the first half as he forced a diving save from Crew goalkeeper Will Hesmer before setting up a great chance for Salinas just before halftime, which came back off the post.

Camilo was then denied by a good reaction save from Hesmer early in the second half before the Whitecaps Alain Rochat drew a penalty kick in the 72nd minute for a foul on Dejan Rusmir.

Terry Dunfield stepped to the spot, but his effort was saved at the bottom- left corner of the net by Hesmer. And from there, things went south for the home side as Cunningham would go on to make history in the final minutes.
