Final Score: Kansas City 2, Vancouver 1

Kansas City, KS (Sports Network) - Sporting Kansas City is enjoying its new $200 million stadium.

Omar Bravo and Julio Cesar scored seven minutes apart late in the first half and Kansas City beat Vancouver Whitecaps FC, 2-1, on Saturday night to remain undefeated at Sporting Livestrong Park in Major League Soccer.

Sporting opened the season on a 10-game road trip, and after drawing the first match at its new stadium, has won back-to-back home games. K.C. (4-6-5) jumped off the bottom of the Eastern Conference and up to sixth place with the win as it extended its unbeaten streak to seven straight.

Vancouver (2-7-8) failed to build on last week's 1-0 win over the Philadelphia Union, a result that snapped a 14-match winless streak, as it remained winless in nine road games this season.

C.J. Sapong nearly put Kansas City in front in the 10th minute, but his close- range shot was stopped by Whitecaps goalie Joe Cannon.

Vancouver followed with the opening goal in the 15th minute. Davide Chiumiento sent a cross in off a set piece, and Camilo met the ball in the middle of the box to head into the bottom-right corner for his fifth goal of the season.

Kansas City responded after the half-hour mark, as Bravo was fouled in the box by Whitecaps defender Jay DeMerit and converted from the spot for his second goal of the season.

Bravo then set up the next goal in the 40th, heading a pass to Cesar, who sent a right-footed shot from close range into the middle of the goal for his first goal of the season.

Eric Hassli had one of Vancouver's best chances after half but K.C. goalkeeper Jimmy Nielsen made one of his two saves, and Sporting held on for the win.

Sporting visits the Portland Timbers for its next game July 2, while Vancouver visits Toronto FC on Wednesday.
