Washington, D.C. (Sports Network) - The Houston Dynamo moved out of Major
League Soccer's Western Conference basement with a 3-1 win vs. D.C. United at
RFK Stadium on Saturday night.
The Dynamo (7-14-5) now sit one point up on Chivas USA at the foot of the
Western table, although the Goats have a game in hand.
United (5-18-3) drops further into the hole, sitting last in the league's
overall table by eight points.
The home side actually went up 1-0 in the contest when 17-year-old rookie Andy
Najar scored his fifth goal of the season. Najar beat defender Andrew Hainault
on the play before placing a shot past goalkeeper Pat Onstad just before the
Houston equalized in the 66th when Devon McTavish was charged with an own goal
after deflecting a shot past his own 'keeper.
Geoff Cameron got the eventual game winner for the visitors just four minutes
later when he headed home a Brad Davis free kick, past goalkeeper Troy
Houston forward Dominic Oduro added a goal in second-half stoppage time to
close out the scoring.
The Dynamo travel to Philadelphia to take on the Union next Saturday, while
United travels to Colorado the same day in its next MLS fixture.
