Chester, PA (Sports Network) - First-half goals from Alejandro Moreno and Fred put the Philadelphia Union well on its way to a 3-0 win against Chivas USA at PPL Park on Saturday.

Moreno handed the hosts the lead after 25 minutes, while Fred scored deep into first-half stoppage time to double the lead. Sebastien Le Toux added a goal from a free kick 20 minutes from time, and Union goalkeeper Brad Knighton recorded his second clean sheet in three games since taking over in goal for Chris Seitz.

Moreno went close with a diving header from Le Toux's right-wing cross in the 17th minute, but he rose up in traffic to head home Justin Mapp's corner kick eight minutes later, giving the Union a 1-0 lead.

Le Toux then helped to set up Fred's goal right before the break with a low free kick that was driven to the front of goal. Goalkeeper Zach Thornton got a hand to the ball, but it fell to Fred in front of goal for an easy finish from close range.

Chivas offered little in attack over the course of 90 minutes, and Le Toux put the result out of reach in the 69th minute when his free kick from 20 yards struck a player in the wall and left Thornton with no chance at stopping the deflected effort.

The only question over the final 20 minutes was whether or not Knighton would preserve the shutout, and he did so in the 89th minute with a nice save on Alan Gordon.

Philadelphia has now won three of its last five games, while Chivas has lost three of its last four.
