Sandy, UT (Sports Network) - The San Jose Earthquakes and Real Salt Lake battled to a 0-0 draw on Friday at Rio Tinto Stadium to kick off the first weekend of Major League Soccer in over two weeks because of the World Cup break.

John Busch, making his first start of the season for his new club, San Jose, after spending the previous three seasons in Chicago, matched Real Salt Lake goalkeeper Nick Rimando save for save to earn clean sheets for their respective clubs.

With the draw, Real Salt Lake (7-3-3), which sits in second in the Western Conference table, extends its unbeaten run to eight games while improving to 5-0-2 at home this season.

San Jose (5-4-3) is now winless since May 22, bus still sits in fourth in the West.

RSL will be back in action on Friday when it hosts New England, while the Earthquakes host D.C. United the following day in their next MLS fixture.
