Final Score: San Jose 4, New York 0

Santa Clara, CA (Sports Network) - The San Jose Earthquakes earned a dominating 4-0 victory over Red Bull New York at Buck Shaw Stadium in Major League Soccer action on Saturday night.

Goals by Ryan Johnson, Joey Gjertsen, Chris Wondolowski and Bobby Burling, as well as three assists from Bobby Convey, lead the 'Quakes to their fourth win in their last five MLS fixtures.

Red Bull was at a clear disadvantage for most of the game after Luke Sassano was given a red card for a hard tackle on San Jose midfielder Convey in the 13th minute.

Playing up a man for the final 77 minutes, the 'Quakes (4-2-0) wore down the New York defense in the first half before picking it apart in the second frame.

The game's first goal was scored just before the break when Convey curled a cross into the area to Johnson, who one-timed with his left foot, past goalkeeper Bouna Coundoul.

San Jose went up 2-0 less than 10 minutes after the break when Gjertsen ran onto the ball played into the Red Bull penalty area, cut back past a defender and fired right at Coundoul. Coundoul appeared to jump right over the ball as it squeezed under him and into the net.

The Earthquakes stretched the lead to three goals in the 77th minute when Wondolowski knocked home a Ramiro Corrales feed for his fourth straight game with a goal.

Burling headed home a Convey corner kick in the 86th minute to close out the scoring.

New York (5-2-0) will aim to rebound at home vs. Seattle next Saturday, while the 'Quakes will try to add to their current two-game winning streak at New England earlier the same day in their next MLS fixture.
