Frisco, TX (Sports Network) - FC Dallas used a 94th minute penalty-kick goal
by Jeff Cunningham to earn a share of the points in a 2-2 draw with Seattle
Sounders FC in Major League Soccer action at Pizza Hut Park on Thursday night.
Seconds before the final whistle, FCD rookie Jason Yiesley drove into the
Seattle penalty area, and after trying to split a couple defenders, fell over
their attempted tackles, which drew the controversial call from referee Terry
Cunningham stepped up and fired the chance past goalkeeper Terry Boss, who
replaced an injured Kasey Keller at halftime, to tie the game at two.
It was Cunningham's second PK goal of the game after also tallying the game's
first goal in the 27th minute. Cunningham earned that chance after being taken
down in the area by Keller.
Seattle winger Steve Zakuani tied the score at one in the 38th minute when he
received a ball in space on the left side, drove toward the goal and placed a
shot into the far-post side-netting for his second goal of the season.
Fredy Montero scored what looked to be the game winner for Seattle in the 56th
minute when he placed a free kick past Boss from about 40 yards out into the
net to make it 2-1.
The Sounders (2-1-2) will aim to gain the full points on Sunday at Toronto in
their next MLS match, while Dallas (0-1-3) will aim for its first win of the
season at New England on May 1.
