Final Score: Los Angeles 1, New England 0

Carson, CA (Sports Network) - The Los Angeles Galaxy topped the New England Revolution 1-0 as the two Major League Soccer sides opened their respective seasons at The Home Depot Center on Saturday night.

Edson Buddle scored the game's lone goal just six minutes in when Landon Donovan's free kick from the left sideline found him unmarked in the Revs' penalty area.

Buddle responded by snapping a header past New England goalkeeper Preston Burpo for the 1-0 advantage.

New England, which was playing without a full compliment of players because of injury, specifically midfielder Shalrie Joseph, generated very little on the offensive end throughout the game.

The Galaxy will aim to build on the workman-like effort vs. Chivas USA on Thursday, while New England will hope to rebound at D.C. United on Saturday in its next MLS fixture.
