Carson, CA (Sports Network) - Jeff Cunningham had two goals, his 11th and 12th
of the of the year and 115th and 116th of his career, and two assists to lead
FC Dallas to a 6-3 victory over the Los Angeles Galaxy on Saturday at The Home
Cunningham scored in the 25th to hand Dallas an early two-goal lead and, after
L.A. scored twice to level the game before halftime, assisted on Dax McCarty's
goal, David Ferreira's goal and added his second all in the second half.
FC Dallas (7-11-6), which also got a goal and two assists from Atiba Harris,
won for just the second time on the road this season.
L.A. (9-5-11), which got its goals from rookie A.J. DeLaGarza and Edson Buddle
- its other was an own goal - wasted a chance to overtake Houston for first in
Dave van den Bergh fired Dallas into the lead just eight minutes into the game
and Cunningham started off his impressive night just over 15 minutes later off
an assist from Harris.
DeLaGarza earned the Galaxy's first goal, which took a few deflections before
bouncing in off Dallas defender Jair Benitez, and notched his first-ever MLS
goal in the 42nd as L.A. tied the match.
Cunningham set up McCarty in the 71st as FC Dallas took the lead for good, and
Harris and David Ferreira added goals in less than a minute before Cunningham
capped his performance in the 86th.
Buddle, who returned from an extended injury absence, notched his fourth goal
of the season off a cross from David Beckham in the 90th to cap the scoring.
Dallas improved its slim playoff chances, but still sits seventh in the eight-
team West with just six matches remaining. Dallas visits Kansas City on Sept.
19 in its next match.
L.A., which remained two points behind Houston, hosts Toronto FC on Sept. 19.
