Carson, CA (Sports Network) - The Los Angeles Galaxy earned their seventh Major League Soccer victory in their last 10 fixtures on Saturday night, 1-0 over Chivas USA in 2009's final regular season installment of the SuperClasico.

Thanks to David Beckham's first goal of the season 10 minutes from time, the Galaxy (9-4-11) were able to climb within two points of Western Conference leaders Houston, ahead of the Dynamo's league fixture at Colorado on Sunday afternoon.

The Galaxy also claimed the season series from the Goats, going 2-0-1 against their L.A. rivals.

Beckham's goal came off a free kick in the offensive third. Todd Dunivant took the kick from the left side, arching a ball into the Chivas USA penalty area. L.A. defender Omar Gonzalez got his head on the ball to deflect it to the top of the 18-yard box, where Beckham was able to one-time the volley off the left post and in, past Chivas USA goalkeeper Lance Parker.

The Galaxy will aim to continue their current form when they host FC Dallas on Sept. 12 in their next league fixture, while Chivas USA (10-9-3) hosts New England on Sept. 13 in their next MLS match.
