Bridgeview, IL (Sports Network) - D.C. United earned a hard-fought three points with a 1-0 victory at Toyota Park vs. the Chicago Fire in Major League Soccer action on Saturday night.

United (7-5-11) was in dire need of the result after going winless in its previous four league fixtures.

Chicago (10-6-8) has now closed out and up-and-down August with a 3-3 record, going 2-2 on its home field.

The game's only goal was scored in the 11th minute when defender Brian Namoff scored his second goal of the season. Midfielder Christian Gomez controlled the ball on the right side before crossing into the Chicago penalty area toward Namoff, who was making a run from his left back spot. Namoff then glanced a header past goalkeeper Jon Busch, into the far post side netting for the game winner.

United will aim to build on the solid road effort when it travels to Dallas next Saturday for its next league match, while the Fire are off until Sept. 12, when they travel to take on Real Salt Lake.
