Final Score: Toronto FC 0, Seattle 0

Seattle, WA (Sports Network) - Rookie goalkeeper Stefan Frei had five saves to post his fifth shutout Saturday, helping Toronto FC earn a key road point with a 0-0 tie against Seattle Sounders FC at Qwest Field.

Toronto (8-8-7), which wasted three early chances to take the lead, earned its sixth road result in 11 games. TFC has just two wins away from BMO Field, but also has four draws to accumulate 10 points away from home.

Seattle (8-6-10) continued to struggle, and has now posted just one win in its last seven matches.

"Seattle is a decent team and this is a good point for us," Toronto FC coach Chris Cummins said. "We will take the point and then move on."

Toronto was impressive early, but missed a trio of chances in the opening 25 minutes.

Dwayne De Rosario had a one-on-one chance against Seattle goalie Kasey Keller in the third minute, but fired a right-footed shot off his left foot and the ball bounced into the side netting.

De Rosario nearly made up for the miss when he set up Chad Barrett with a nice cross to the left post, but Barrett missed an open header to waste the chance in the 22nd.

Amado Guevara followed a minute later with a shot off the frame for Toronto.

Freddie Ljungberg had Seattle's best chance of the first half in the 26th, but his shot was handled by Frei.

Toronto's Sam Cronin then wasted another good scoring chance, when he had only Keller to beat and fired wide of the right post in the 37th.

"I thought in the first half was the best 45 minutes we have played. We had a lot of chances in the first half, we're just unlucky," Cummins said.

Seattle was better in the second half, and Ljungberg had another chance in the 63rd that Frei tipped over the bar. Ljungberg followed up minutes later with another chance that sailed just inches wide of the left post.

Seattle sub Sebastien Le Toux had Seattle's next two chances but the first was cleared by a defender and Frei handled the second in the 91st.

"Both teams had their chances to score, and I was just called upon to make the save," Frei said. "Overall I think we had a really good team effort, to not only get a point out of this but get a clean sheet away from home."

The Sounders had one last chance to earn all three points in the 93rd but Frei made another big save on Osvaldo Alonso to stop a one-on-one chance from just six yards out and was helped on the rebound when the ball popped over the bar.

Keller finished with just one official save, but played well to disrupt a few good scoring chances and posted his eighth shutout of the season.

"We want to win games at home, so I'm disappointed that we didn't win," said Seattle coach Sigi Schmid. "I'm happy that we got a point because I think we could have walked away from this game with nothing."
