Washington, D.C. (Sports Network) - The Los Angeles Galaxy earned a valuable
road point at Major League Soccer rivals D.C. United on Saturday night, three
days after earning a road win at Chicago, 2-0.
The Galaxy (8-4-11) are now 4-0-2 on the road against the Eastern Conference
this season. More importantly, the team creeps closer to Western Conference
leaders Houston, which is four points up ahead of its fixture on Sunday vs.
D.C. United, on the other hand, dropped two important home points and is
winless since July 18, a span of four league matches. As a result, United
(6-5-11) is fourth in the Eastern Conference table and on the bubble for a
playoff spot heading toward the stretch.
United outshot the Galaxy 13-10 in the match, although the Galaxy got five
strikes on goal compared to United's three.
United will aim to get back in the win column in league play when it travels
to Chicago to take on the Fire next Saturday, while the Galaxy host L.A.
rivals Chivas USA later the same night in their next MLS match.
