Final Score: Columbus 3, Real Salt Lake 1

Columbus, OH (Sports Network) - The Columbus Crew tied a Major League Soccer record of 17 games without a home loss on Saturday by topping visiting Real Salt Lake, 3-1.

Steven Lenhart scored a goal and an assist, and Jason Garey scored two goals to lead the home side to victory.

Lenhart gave the home side the early advantage, just 23 minutes in, when he converted a Frankie Hejduk cross for his first goal of the season. Hejduk streaked down the right side and played a ball into the RSL penalty area, and after it deflected off a defender, Lenhart found it and ripped it home.

Less than 10 minutes later, Garey scored his first goal of the game after an Eddie Gaven cross in the box was headed into the air by Lenhart. Lenhart then out-jumped RSL goalkeeper Nick Rimando to keep it alive before Garey collected the loose ball and deposited it into the back of the net for the 2-0 advantage.

The Crew (6-3-9) put the game out of reach in the 53rd minute when Lenhart back-heeled a pass from Duncan Oughton to Garey, who broke in alone on Rimando before firing home his third goal of the season.

RSL substitute Raphael Cox added goal in the 76th minute, but it was too little, too late for the visitors.

Columbus will aim to continue its home dominance when it hosts Toronto FC next Saturday, while RSL (5-7-5) hosts FC Dallas a day earlier in its next MLS match.
