San Jose's Darren Huckerby leveled things up just after the half-hour mark, but Vitti scored his second goal of the season in the 54th minute to put the visitors back up a goal.

Barrett added the insurance in the 69th minute when he broke in on goal on a breakaway, deked around goalkeeper Joe Cannon and fired into an open net for his fourth goal of the season.

Toronto (8-6-4) will aim to continue its current form when it hosts Houston next Saturday, while San Jose (3-9-4) will try to earn a positive result at Chicago on the same day in it next MLS match.
