Final Score: Colorado 3, D.C. United 0

Commerce City, CO (Sports Network) - The Colorado Rapids used a dominant performance from striker Omar Cummings to defeat D.C. United 3-0 at Dick's Sporting Goods Park on Saturday night.

Cummings scored the game's first two goals, then set up the third to help his club extend its unbeaten streak to 10 games.

He opened the scoring just 11 minutes in when he took a pass from Pablo Mastroeni and streak down the left side of the field, outrunning United defender Greg Janicki, before firing a perfect shot into the far post side netting.

Cummings doubled the home side's lead seconds before the first-half break when he intercepted an errant Avery John pass, broke into the United area and cut to his right, around United goalkeeper Josh Wicks, before burring a tough angle shot for his fifth goal of the season.

The Rapids put the game out of reach just four minutes after the break when Cummings again raced past Janicki, before playing a low pass to a wide open Colin Clark art the back post. Clark blasted the shot off Wicks and in for his third goal of the season.

The Rapids (5-2-5) will aim to continue their surge when they host FC Dallas on Wednesday, while United (5-3-8) is off until a July 4 match at Columbus.
