Bridgeview, IL (Sports Network) - FC Dallas, which entered the match with just one win and as the lowest-scoring team in MLS, stunned the previously unbeaten Chicago Fire, 3-0, on Sunday afternoon at Toyota Park.

Veteran Jeff Cunningham put Dallas in front in the 15th minute, and an own goal by Chicago's C.J. Brown late in the half was enough to send Dallas on its way to just its second win in 11 matches. Kenny Cooper added a goal in the 80th to cap the scoring.

Chicago (5-1-6) had its season-opening 11-game unbeaten streak snapped, and was shutout for the first time this season.

Cunningham handed Dallas the early lead with his first goal of the season - and the 105th of his career - off a corner kick by Dave van den Bergh. Cunningham met the pass six yards from goal and headed past Chicago goalie Jon Busch.

Dallas' Dax McCarty tested Busch again three minutes later, but the goalie made stopped the header. Cooper sent another header toward the Fire net in the 27th, but Busch made another save.

Busch was helpless in the 35th, though, when a McCarty free kick from the left was mis-cleared by Brown and sailed into the upper-right corner.

FCD was sitting on the two-goal lead until the 80th minute, when Cooper drilled a free kick from 20 yards into the upper left. The kick was set up when Chicago defender Bakary Soumare was sent off a minute earlier for his second yellow.

Chicago, which leads MLS with 20 goals, struggled to solve Dallas' defense and had with just two shots on goal. John Thorrington had the Fire's best chance in the final five minutes when he hit the post.

FCD goalie Ray Burse made two saves for his - and FC Dallas' - first shutout of the season. Busch had four saves.

Dallas moved off the bottom of the Western Conference, one point ahead of the San Jose Earthquakes. Chicago still leads the Eastern Conference by three.
