389 minutes, Steve Zakuani and Brad Evans scored, and the Seattle Sounders FC
snapped its two-match skid Saturday night with a 2-0 victory over the San Jose
Seattle, an expansion team in MLS this season, won its first three matches with
former U.S. international goalie Keller in net. When Keller was ejected in the
fourth game, Seattle went on to lose and then also dropped the following match
when he was suspended.
Keller returned against San Jose with five saves, and has not allowed a goal in
his short MLS career. Seattle (4-2-0) is 4-0-0 when Keller starts - and ends -
San Jose (1-3-2) fell to 0-2-0 on the road and is winless in four straight,
Seattle broke through at Qwest Field just before half when Zakuani scored his
second goal of the season. Jhon Kennedy Hurtado and Tyrone Marshall set up the
goal, with the latter picking out a wide open Zakuani at the back post for an
easy header in the 42nd minute.
The Sounders took control of the match five minutes after the break when Evans
added his second goal of the season. Zakuani and Nate Jaqua set up the goal and
Evans converted past Joe Cannon.
Seattle will try to build on the win May 2 when it visits the Chicago Fire, who
lead the Eastern Conference. San Jose will try to snap its skid when it hosts
Chivas USA, which leads the Western Conference.
