Washington, D.C. (Sports Network) - D.C. United's Luciano Emilio, a former MLS MVP, notched his first goal of the year but 23-year-old Chicago forward Patrick Nyarko answered as the teams tied 1-1 at RFK Stadium on Saturday.

Emilio, who scored 20 goals in 2007 to win league MVP, scored unassisted in the seventh minute for D.C. Nyarko, who had one goal in his rookie year, leveled in the opening minutes of the second half.

D.C. United (0-0-2) settled for its second straight tie to open the season, and Chicago (1-0-1) moved into a tie atop the Eastern Conference with Toronto FC and Columbus.

United will try to notch their first win on April 4 when they host Houston. The Fire, who have earned four points from their first two games on the road, host Red Bull New York on April 5.
