Final Score: Chicago 3, Dallas 1

Frisco, TX (Sports Network) - Goals by Justin Mapp, Brian McBride and Cuauhtemoc Blanco were enough to propel the Chicago Fire (1-0-0) to an impressive 3-1 road win at FC Dallas (0-1-0) on Saturday night.

Dallas forward Kenny Cooper actually started the scoring for the home side, with a 60-yard blast that beat Fire goalkeeper Jon Busch in the ninth minute. Cooper caught Busch off his line and fired a rocket just over the 5-foot-10 goalkeeper's fingertips.

But the Fire were able to equalize before the end of the half before going ahead to stay just after the break.

The equalizer came off midfielder Mapp's boot in the 38th minute. Forward Patrick Nyarko controlled the ball at the top of the FCD penalty area and played a ball to the left side to Mapp after Hoops' central defender Steve Purdy slipped to open up space. Mapp then took a touch and blasted a left- footed laser into the side netting to tie the game at one.

McBride put the Fire up 2-1 just six minutes after the break when Chicago was awarded a penalty kick. Referee Baldomero Toledo awarded the chance after he decided that Dallas defender Drew Moor had handled the ball in the Hoops' penalty area. McBride made no mistake on the chance, slotting the shot to the right post, just out of the reach of goalkeeper Dario Sala.

Moor had a chance to redeem himself in the 72nd minute when he got his head on a Dax McCarty corner kick, but his chance deflected off the goalpost and out of danger.

Blanco, who didn't start for Fire because he's nursing a knock, added a late free-kick goal from about 20 yards out to close out the scoring.
