Description: The Bills released Matt Leinart Friday.
Insight: That was fast. Leinart was signed last week after Kevin Kolb suffered a concussion, but he threw two picks in Buffalo's final preseason game Thursday. The Bills will start undrafted rookie Jeff Tuel in Week 1.

Insight: With Kevin Kolb concussed, the former Heisman Trophy winner could be in line to start Week 1 against New England. He'll head back to the bench as soon as E.J. Manuel recovers from knee surgery.

5/1/2012 8:06:00 PM
Description: Matt Leinart has agreed to a deal with the Oakland Raiders.
Insight: Leinart has only thrown 10 NFL passes since 2009. He won't see the field this season unless Carson Palmer gets hurt.

Description: The Seahawks have reportedly spoken with free agent QB Matt Leinart. SOURCE: LA DAILY NEWS
Insight: A Pete Carroll-Matt Leinart reunion has been talked about ever since Carroll took Seattle's head coaching position last year. With Matt Hasselbeck on the fence, expect the rumors to be even more rampant this time around.

Description: Free agent to be QB Matt Leinart wants to "explore other options" after spending 2010 as a third stringer in Houston. SOURCE: HOUSTON CHRONICLE
Insight: Leinart still wants a chance to start, but he likely won't get one after blowing a couple opportunities in Arizona. And not being able to pass Dan Orlovsky on the depth chart this year speaks volumes.

Description: Texans HC Gary Kubiak said QB Matt Leinart "continues to push QB Dan (Orlovsky) every day" for the backup job. SOURCE: HOUSTON CHRONICLE
Insight: Kubiak says he's "really impressed" with how far Leinart has come since being signed, but we still temper our expectations. The Texans are still in big trouble if Matt Schaub misses more than a game or two.

Description: Less than 48 hours after he was released by the Arizona Cardinals, QB Matt Leinart signed a one-year contract with the Houston Texans according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. SOURCE: FOOTBALL NEWS NOW
Insight: Leinart had previously stated he wanted to be the starter wherever he goes, but that's not going to happen in Houston. What will likely transpire is him taking over for Dan Orlovsky as the primary backup.

9/6/2010 10:03:00 AM
Description: ESPN's Chris Mortensen reported via Twitter Monday morning that Leinart has agreed to a one-year deal with the Texans.
Insight: If he's not satisfied with being an NFL backup, Leinart either picked a funny place to go or didn't have too many options. The only way he becomes a factor in Houston is if Matt Schaub gets hurt, which has happened before. We'll have to see whether Leinart can wrest the backup job from Dan Orlovsky. (RapidDraft.com)

Description: The Seahawks are reportedly split on whether or not to sign free agent QB Matt Leinart. SOURCE: PRO FOOTBALL TALK
Insight: Leinart to Seattle makes sense with Pete Carroll calling the offense, but there is a chance Leinart could make waves if he still thinks he should start. The Texans and Raiders are also said to be in the mix.

9/4/2010 10:04:00 PM
Description: As expected, the Cardinals dumped Leinart on Saturday.
Insight: What a waste. We'll see if some team gives him another chance. If Seattle and coach Pete Carroll -- who cut J.P. Losman and haven't been wowed by Charlie Whitehurst -- don't try Leinart, it's hard to imagine who will. (RapidDraft.com)

Description: The Cardinals have released QB Matt Leinart. SOURCE: USA TODAY
Insight: The Seahawks couldn't even get a seventh-round pick for Leinart before his eventual release. Leinart will get some looks, possibly from the Seahawks, but he won't start in 2010.

9/3/2010 4:03:00 PM
Description: ESPN's Chris Mortensen reports, via Twitter, that Leinart has opted against pursuing a trade because he feels his best chance to start this season is to stay in Arizona.
Insight: The Cardinals are still likely to release Leinart on Saturday, if not before. (RapidDraft.com)

9/2/2010 8:57:00 PM
Description: Len Pasquarelli of the Sports XChange reports that the Cardinals have given Matt Leinart permission to seek a trade.
Insight: Sure, he has permission but what NFL team is going to give up anything more then a used bag of footballs for Leinart at this point? A team like Buffalo might give up a 7th rounder to bring in another QB to back up Edwards but there's no way he's getting a starting gig.

9/2/2010 3:01:00 PM
Description: The Arizona Republic reports Cardinals' head coach Ken Whisenhunt said he plans to play Leinart on Thursday night against Washington.
Insight: Leinart looks likely to get an opportunity to showcase himself for a potential trade, but both he and the Cardinals are hoping he does not get hurt. (RapidDraft.com)

9/2/2010 2:48:00 PM
Description: Cardinals QB Matt Leinart is expected to play against the Redskins Thursday night. SOURCE: ARIZONA REPUBLIC
Insight: It's a risky move considering an injury would kill any trade value Leinart has. If he puts up a bad performance, he will be released Saturday.

9/2/2010 10:04:00 AM
Description: NFL Network's Jason La Canfora reports that interest in Leinart around the league is "nil."
Insight: Leinart looks likely to be released by Arizona on Saturday, and after that more teams could be interested in bringing him aboard as a backup. (RapidDraft.com)

9/2/2010 3:08:00 AM
Description: More Matt Leinart news? Apparently so. The Bills have announced they are not one of the reported three teams interested in trading for QB Matt Leinart, and have no desire to acquire the disgruntled Arizona Cardinals QB. SOURCE: FOOTBALL NEWS NOW
Insight: ESPN's Adam Schefter reported earlier that there were three teams interested in Leinart's services, and that the Bills were one of them. All indications are that the team is happy with QB Trent Edwards, who has looked consistently strong so far this preseason. Edwards has completed 63% of his passes, throwing for 304 yards with 2 TDs and an INT in 3 games. Backups Ryan Fitzpatrick and Brain Brohm have been servicable, as well, meaning that if a trade goes through for Leinart, it'll be out of preference, not necessity.

9/2/2010 2:54:00 AM
Description: Though Alex Smith is entrenched as the starting QB in San Francisco, rumor has it HC Mike Singletary isn't 100% happy with either backup, Nate Davis or David Carr, and could be considering looking into Cardinals QB Matt Leinart. SOURCE: FOOTBALL NEWS NOW
Insight: No matter where Leinart goes, he's going as a backup... and that's it. Leinart's fantasy value in our latest batch of projections went from #26 to #37, based on the fact he's likely not the starter in Arizona if he does stay, and if he's moved, he's definitely holding the clipboard.

9/1/2010 11:01:00 PM
Description: Fox Sports.com's Jay Glazer disputes a rumor the Giants have traded for Leinart, saying the Giants are "not interested" in such a deal.
Insight: Leinart likely wants a starting job somewhere, and he could be cut on Saturday if Arizona can't find a trade partner by then. (RapidDraft.com)

9/1/2010 4:02:00 PM
Description: There was an earlier report that some in the Cardinals' locker room thought QB Matt Leinart was traded to the Giants, but a recent report nixed that rumor. SOURCE: TWITTER
Insight: It's not like Eli Manning is injury prone to the point that the Giants would need to create problems by bringing Leinart in the fold, especially when Leinart refuses to be a backup. In the end, we fully believe that Leinart will be off Arizona's roster in some form by the weekend. Oakland and Buffalo also denied having any interest.
